Our Research

Our lab develops innovative tissue engineering strategies that integrate 3D bioprinting and advanced biofabrication techniques, including whole-organ engineering. We are particularly committed to addressing congenital, prenatal, and paediatric disorders, where regenerative medicine holds great therapeutic promise.

Our research is structured around two main areas:

Fetal tissue engineering therapies

(ERC-funded)

We are developing cutting-edge regenerative approaches for the treatment of congenital pathologies through prenatal surgery and bioprinting. The potential of three-dimensional printing of living cells remains largely untapped, and our goal is to expand its application to prenatal and fetal diseases.

Advanced in-vitro models

We employ organoids, 3D bioprinting, and biomaterials to create complex in-vitro systems that overcome the limitations of traditional 2D cultures. These models are designed to replicate the structural and functional complexity of human tissues, enabling studies in developmental biology, drug discovery, and personalized medicine.
